XKCD hit the nail on the head today. I’ve had several conversations with clients over the past few years about wanting to create an app when a specific mobile site, or responsive site, would do the job just as well.
Over the next few years I can see the gap between what needs to be done natively and what we can take advantage on through the browser becoming smaller and smaller. When this happens it will also provide the opportunity for other smaller phone manufacturers to come onto the market without the need for developers to create speficic apps, instead it’s the phone manufacturers responsibility to ensure they provide the right hooks for the browser.
Was this the original concept of Firefox OS? Where the OS itself is one big web browsers?
